Note to Travel League Families (5th – 8th Grade)
The NGBA board is committed to a transparent, fair and objective tryout process for the creation of A/B/etc. teams and to the naming of head coaches and assistant coaches that consistently live up to and reinforce our values as an organization. We believe in every one of our coaches’ abilities to develop all players, and to guide their teams throughout the season.
We are in a very fortunate situation some seasons to have more volunteer interest than coaching positions. We strive to find opportunities to be involved for every person, but often there is more interest in being a coach than we have teams. The NGBA board greatly appreciates the willingness to step up, but please understand that we cannot have more than 2-3 coaches per team by league rules. We ask that each player, parent, guardian or otherwise do their best to support your teams’ coaches and remember that the NGBA is about the experience for the girls above all else.
From time to time, issues will arise between parents and coaches, and there is a certain protocol that should be followed when this occurs.
- Please try to discuss any issues in person with the head coach first.
- Observe the 24-hour rule after practices and games (let the issue cool down before discussing.)
- If the issue is not resolved after talking to the head coach, contact the grade level coordinator that is posted on our website. If the issue is not resolved after talking with the grade level coordinator, contact the NGBA President.
- Please No coaching from the stands, this can be both distracting and confusing to the kids.
- We have a minimum playing time rule for each player. Coaches need to make every effort to observe and enforce this rule. Occasionally at the end of competitive games coaches make discretionary calls for better matchups or other strategic reasons. Mistakes can also happen, and you will usually find that it will be made up to players in subsequent games.
- For more information, please read our NGBA Code of Conduct on the home page.
Thank you to all of our NGBA players and families.
Sincerely,
NGBA Board of Directors
